AMD CEO Lisa Su is starting her keynote at CES 2022 right now. Lisa will be speaking on the company’s consumer products for the year with an expected particular focus on the “Rembrandt” Ryzen 6000 series mobile processors and AMD processors with 3D V-Cache.
AMD Ryzen 6000 Series Mobile will take center stage at CES 2022. Making Next Generation AMD Mobile SoCs Exciting Shifts from Vega to RDNA2 Graphics, as we have already seen around the work of activating Linux Rembrandt (Yellow Carp ). RDNA2 graphics for next-gen laptops will already be very interesting and supported by open source Linux driver support upstream, but they will want to use the very latest Linux kernel and Mesa software components. Besides RDNA2 graphics, DDR5 memory support is also great for next-generation mobile processors, which is another performance boost.
Lisa has been teasing the AMD 2022 product premiere for several days on Twitter.
Lisa’s keynote address is also expected to cover AMD 3D V-Cache desktop processors slated for release later this quarter. Maybe we’ll hear a thing or two about the next-gen AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors as well. We’ll see if they touch AMD Zen 4 processors at all today, which isn’t expected until later in 2022.
Below is the AMD CES 2022 product premiere livestream. I was not notified in advance of the main announcements, but below the feed you will find brief comments on the announcements. Of course, once the next gen products start shipping, I will be working on Linux performance testing and support information enthusiastically in my usual AMD Linux reviews and hardware testing.
